I am a newly elected member of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors in District 4. I previously served as the Senior Vice President of Inclusion and Belonging for the Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG), where I managed policy work and initiatives in Education, Workforce Development, Health, and Racial Justice & Equity. I also currently serve on the East Palo Alto City Council, having been first elected in 2012.
Prior to my recent election, I served three terms of the East Palo Alto City Council, where I served three times as Mayor and Vice Mayor. In addition to my professional and elected service, I am an active board member with Health Trust, Live in Peace, Stanford Medicine Community Council, San Mateo County Flood and Sea Level Rise Resiliency District, and San Francisco Bay Restoration Authority, among many other organizations.
I am a graduate of the Emerge California leadership program for democratic women and a Regional Area Director for BWOPA (Black Women Organized for Political Action). I am also a founding member of the DemFems Silicon Valley Democratic Club, a past board member of the Peninsula Democratic Coalition (PDC), and a delegate to the California Democratic Party State Convention for the past two years.
In 2018, I was awarded the Athena Award from the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce. In 2020, I was awarded the Silicon Valley’s 100 Women of Influence award by the Silicon Valley Business Journal.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus in general management from Thomas Edison University in New Jersey. I am the proud mother of three young adults, a longtime resident of East Palo Alto, and an active community volunteer.
